Lionel Messi missed out on the Reims clash, with Neymar starting on the bench, and Paris Saint-Germain failed to grab a win on Saturday in a game that ended in a goalless draw.
Mbappe started the game as Paris Saint-Germain’s lone striker, as Lionel Messi missed the game due to injury and Galtier decided to rest Neymar, who has started back-to-back games this season. However, the manager’s decision to deploy him as a single striker up front didn’t seem to please Mbappe.
After the 0-0 draw at Reims on Saturday, Mbappe wrote on Instagram: “Match drawn, back on Tuesday. #icicestparis #pivotgang.” The “#pivotgang” suggests Mbappe is unhappy at leading the line on his own, and would rather play alongside another striker.
But now he has deleted the post.
He said on national duty:
“The coach knows that we have [Olivier] Giroud as a striker who occupies defenses and I can go into space. At PSG, it’s different, that doesn’t exist. They ask me to play as a pivot, and it’s different.”
